I call this recipe Dumpster Fire Chili because you can really change up this recipe. It is not spicy, but it could be very simply with you just adding a little bit of red pepper flakes and/or increasing the number of jalapenos. This is a recipe that just gets better and better as the days go by! I find that my leftovers are better than the first day I made it! The flavors get better and better as they sit.
I like chili as a dish that I use when I have left over broth or just a bunch of veggies that are about to expire. I just throw them all in. For example, the last time that I made chili, I just threw my left-over Harvard beets in, and it turned out so well. Chili is a dish that is naturally high in salt content, but if you watch how, you make it, you can really lower the salt content. For instance, I rinsed my canned beans to make sure they did not have too much salt in them.
I am working on my nutritional labels, but at this exact moment I do not have the exact numbers. It is a reasonable amount of salt in this dish, but it is a reasonable amount. I promise you this recipe is really worth making! If you decide to make this dumpster fire chili, please let me know how it turned out! I would love to see your cooking journey! ENJOY!!
